A close-fitting skull cap made of iilim fabric, usually red, with a tassel on top. Fezzes are cool.
Also the former capital of Morocco and home to the amazingly well-preserved and dense medieval Medina. The Medina is justly famous, but one favorite site is the Quaraouiyine University, the oldest continuously functioning university in the world (since 859!). Maimonides, Ibn Khaldun, and Averroes all studied here. The old wooden doors into the center of the university are in the heart of the medina, the university continuing to live in its home despite now being a state institution.
