Thanjavur (Tanjore)

One of the busiest towns in the area, and home to both the Brihadaswara Temple and the world's finest Chola bronzes.  The techniques of Indian bronze-casting in the area go back to 2000 B.C., and the technique of lost-wax casting survives today in small villages in the area.
