The temple of Horus at Edfu is one of the best-preserved temples of Egypt, situated on a hill above the river near the modern town of the same name. The current structure is largely Ptolemaic, although temples existed on this site throughout history. It was here that the Hathor statue from Dendera would come each year to visit her husband. Outside the temple grounds is a sculpture garden which includes remnants of later Greco-Roman construction.
