Sinai Peninsula and Mt. Sinai
Sinai Peninsula and Mt. Sinai

Mt. Sinai, the second highest peak on the peninsula, is the mythical location where Moses received the Ten Commandments.  A flight of roughly 750 steps, the Steps of Repentance, lead from behind St. Catherine's monastery to the summit.  Many people begin the hike at 2am to arrive at the top in time to see the sun rise over the desert mountains.
